Discussion_ Alpha One

I was just flipping thru my copy of "The Eyes of the Skin" by Juhani Pallasmaa and this small little snip from the book got me thinking...

"The taste of the apple... lies in the contact of the fruit with the palate, not in the fruit itself; in a similar way.. poetry lies in the meeting of poem & reader, not in the lines of symbols printed on the pages of a book. What is essential is the aesthetic act, the thrill, the almost physical emotion that comes with each reading."

- Jorge Luis Borges

[ Wittgenstein, Ludwig, MS 112 46: 14.10.1931, in Ludwig Wittgenstein - Culture & Value, ed GH von Wright, Blackwell Publishing (Oxford), 2002, p 24 e. ]

How would this quote apply to us? We, the ones who design interiors... Do we breathe what we have put down on our plans, elevations & sections? Could we in our haste to complete and move on to the next project, neglected or cast aside the act of feeling for what we drew and had implemented in the spaces? Have we detached ourselves from such an important part?

Hopefully, this entry will be the beginning of an active discussion here forth of issues pertaining to designing... Would love for you folks to share your thoughts. Cheers~

i think in anything, there is always the reality n the philosophy behind all matter. an example is passing of motion. do u look an think how amazing the human body works and how the soul could actually be removing the sins u have done thru this action or jus in reality u need to wipe ur butt n flush. In life there is always two ways to look at it, u can choose either one or both at the same time. no one will stop u. no one should argue abt it. its a personal encounter of time and of cos space. if one is to question everything, why not ask which hand u use to brush ur teeth with and why not try the other hand this coming morning of urs. Peace b with u.
