Hello 2009! Goodbye yesteryear 2008...

Ok... Here's my first post for the year.

I've been listening to the OST of the musical 'Wicked', which I'm really looking forward to catch when I am in Melbourne in a couple of months time. There are a few songs which I thought was really brilliant. Among which were "For Good" and " Defying Gravity". Spellbinding!

Defying Gravity
Idina Menzel

I'm through accepting limits
''cause someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down:

So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky!
As someone told me lately:
"Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!"
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I am
Defying gravity
I'm flying high
Defying gravity
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No Wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

It's a nice tune and the lyrics were written to reflect such wondrous determination.

Hopefully, this translates to my resolutions for the year...

Oh ya... Need to really exercise and gym more, go home on time, try to wake up on time to work and spend less, save more...

Spent the last day of 2008 with the bunch celebrating Joey's Birthday... Happy Birthday!!! Golly... The Bake Alaska was yummy, wished they put in the Burnt Caramel Icecream instead of the Berry one... Yes, and we had rounds of card games which reduced us to screaming explicit mixes of cantonese and english vulgarities for through the first 20mins or so of the New Year... What a way to begin... Hahaha... Next time we should do something more auspicious yah? But perhaps that would have successfully scare away the ghost of the yesteryear... Hee... Hopped over to Chris' party at Roy's place... I think Chris would probably lay off drinking port for forfeits after this morning... Hope you are ok now... more booze? Hee...

All in all, I thought the laughter through the start of this new year was an awesome beginning to 2009.

Happy New Year folks!

Philip Pullman & His Dark Materials

Was not feeling too well over the weekend... Knocked out after going back to camp for some briefing on Saturday. Slept a mightly 12 hours after I got home.. Only to away at 11pm on Saturday night... Blast the tummy-ache too! Might it be from the Thai food I had for dinner on Friday? Could have been too much to handle after little food since Friday morning... Feeling better now... Was on congee the entire Sunday. Talk about indigestion! Y'ouch! Sorry Wan for not venturing out to the Botanical Gardens this evening for the concert in the park... I'd love to come, if it wasn't for the rain. You know I can't stand being stuck in my room for too long... Didn't want to risk being sick through the week... Being in the condition I was in today. Had to give up going to gym today as well... My lazy bones on that part...

One thing I've accomplished today... I've just finished reading Philip Pullman's trilogy - His Dark Materials. From which sprung the movie "The Golden Compass" from the first of the 3 collections - Northern Lights. Two volumes named "The Subtle Knife" and "The Amber Spyglass" followed after. Not sure if they will be filming these 2 remaining volumes. Thick book it is! The entire collection was rather confusing towards the end... Too much of a change of worlds at random for my taste... And as the collection was named... I would consider the direction of the book rather misleading to the dark side. Hence, perhaps... it would be advised that this be considered on the whole purely friction and fairy-tale gibberish. Hidden subliminal messages or not so conspicuous.

In anycase, I think it's time to venture out to Borders soon and pick out another book soon within the week. Pray they will have a sale soon... Real soon!

On the topic of dark materials... Andrea just introduced to the bunch in the office earlier last week a rather brilliant ventriloquist via the trusty ol' YouTube. Jeff Dunham! Too honestly, I'm not a big fan of people who can talk though a doll. Blame it on my sis's large collection of the R.L. Stine's Goose-bumps series, which involved an evil ventriloquist doll in it. Somehow there was enough humor in Jeff's performances to make me think otherwise for this one character - Achmet: The Dead Terrorist. Thought it really cracked me up when he goes... "SILENCE!"... and breaks into a whimper of a threat... "I... kill you...!" Go and watch him on YouTube... You'd see why.

I know I've been lagging on my posts... Will try to do it more often... However, I guess my priority now is rest and exercise... Need to keep up with them, before I'm reduced to a fat slob... Heaven forbid! Wokies... Bedtime soon! Tata!

Spring Cleaning!

It's 1.30am and I am done with most of my Spring Clean in my room... It's been one LONG day and I'm sure I must have inhaled an insane amount of dust... Which explains why I'm holding on to my box of tissue now... Despite my running nose, I've got to say I'm pretty satisfied with the room looking way neater than the state it was earlier this morning. Hey... I can see my desk again! Kekeke... I think I'd have the 2 'gignormous' bag taken out tomorrow morning. Should have taken a picture of how the room looked like earlier... Oh well... Imagine from Tornado struck to Nice and Neat... Phew~
