Looking back [ 1 year ago... ]

This picture was taken exactly 1 year back outside my bunk window. I remember slogging like some cow, with my project sidekick "Tong", back in camp then, while everyone was on ORD leave. Nothing would replace that experience exactly 1 year back. Although, we were still stuck in camp, making the ORD Annual possible had been one hell of a ride... There were ups and downs definitely... But I guess it was worth it. At least, it gave us something meaningful to look back on... Apart from the kind of life that a typical infantry fella would lead... Value-added sia. Ke ke ke...

I remember... We were in the midst of compiling all the artwork for the book and suddenly Tong came in and told me to go outside to take a look at the sky... I know the photo here doesn't do it any justice... But... That day... At that very point of time... I remember... The sky was a brilliant blue overhead and far behind... it was starting to glow orange... as night slowly creeps in... With the distant buzz from the crickets and that silence that you'd never get if the entire battalion is around... That, was how peaceful and still everything was... Somehow, it puts your mind at ease and you just want to stand there and watch the sky darken and wait for the stars to come on... Dotting the night sky...

It's hard to find time to do that now... Sigh.
