Angel of Music...

Andrew's Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" is finally in town! Went to watch the long-awaited screenplay with Val on Friday... It was a visually stunning film, despite the fact that the movie paled from the musical itself... Somehow without all that real-life stage magic... and with the introduction of CGI, it took the excitement away from the show. All the same, Webber did try to introduce a different perspective to the film at times... Firstly, by allowing us to see the story develop through the eyes of Roaul de Chagny... and that sword fighting scene at the graveyard... along with the room of mirrors in the act of Don Juan... On many accounts, he had already strayed from Gaston Lerox's novel... Cos, there was no part in the book that stated that Roaul fought with Eric, the Phantom in the graveyard with Sword... In the musical... The phantom was shown perched on top of Christine's Father’s grave with his staff in his red devil costume, which he wore in the masquerade scene... and he shot fire balls from the staff in his hands... To provoke and taunt Roaul into a duel, which Christine intervened... The part with the room of mirrors, was missing the iron trees... and the Parisian, who was there with Roaul. And they did not enter the room through the mock-fire display in the centre of the Don Juan set... But through a trap-door in the middle of the stage... and not before they continued down a corridor in the cellars and down another trap door. Oh well, to cut the long story short... The movie was great... But the musical was better... But Webber didn't follow Lerox's original text... But, who cares... I'm still a fan!

Prior to catching the movie... We went to stuff our-selves silly with Sushi... Eew... The live lobster sashimi totally erks us out.. Ha ha! After that, we took to the crowded streets and shopping malls of Orchard... Think we were both a l'il crazy, getting excited with all those l'il thingys that we saw... Ran into Nu Nu and his friend at Wisma... Hello Nu Nu... and later... there was Mr & Mrs Wee... Aka Patrick and Liting along the sidewalk between Wisma and Wheelock... The moment we got to the traffic-lights, it started to drizzle and suddenly, the skies begun to pelt huge drop-lets of rain on to the pedestrians... and everyone went into a mad frenzy to get into shelter... ARGH!!! For a moment... There was a chaos... Was worried that it'd become a stampede.... So scray... Ha ha! Anyway, after that we were very much trapped in the buildings... Thank goodness for that under-pass... We made our way over to Lido... and that's how we chanced upon the poster for Phantom... Ke ke ke... Glad that we actually went to catch it... It was so fun... Should do this more yah, Val! Ha!

He's here... The Angel of Music!
